Hi,

Issue 1 When I mute the microphone with the included controller, it still picks up the low frequency bass of my voice, and e.g. when tapping on it.

Issue 2 The microphone stops working, completely sometimes.

What I had to do then is adjust the volume in Windows 10 to "0" and back to the original state, that seemed to work when I encountered this.

I'm using the Mayflower ARC AMP/DAC for mic.

Hello @KnowsTheWay

Pickup when muted is "normal" - it is a physical (e.g. non-digital) mute. There's not much to do about this sadly. The more we decrease the volume of the signal the louder 'pop' you get when you mute it and there's even a chance of it detecting that the device has become unplugged. Worse, because everyone's machine is different, a machine with poor voltage into the mic will suffer from having the mute too strong (as above). However, if your machine has good voltage (like yours does) you end up with the quiet-mute as opposed to full mute.

That's a long way of saying there's not much to do about it, that is working as intended, though perhaps not as you desired.

As for issue 2. That is really not good. We're still waiting on our test unit of the Arc, so I can't tell you if its a problem with the Arc or your mic. However, if changing a software setting is causing it to resolve the issue then it is almost certainly not the mic. It could be something to do with the Arc's Automatic Gain Control (AGC) if it has it. The volume on the mic is still 100 when you go into it (or whatever) and then changing it down and back up again fixes the issue? I've never heard of that particular problem nor solution before. I don't doubt you, I am just saying that's a new one!

However, based on what you've written here I am not sure there's much we can do until you can reproduce your problem at will. "Sometimes" is the worst boat for QA problems :(. Still, drop us a line and keep us updated. If we can narrow down the cause we can potentially find a fix.
