I'm confused, if you have all of that then you're just looking for a cheap motherboard correct? What is this about celerons?

I mean, since as Linus said (lol) when mobos die they can take other stuff with them, so we don't actually know if this i5 (LGA1151) works so a cheap celery would work

Technically they could, but I would try your i5 in a new motherboard first since if it is still working then an i5 will be a lot better performance. I'd check eBay for motherboards if you want to go cheap. Just make sure it fits in your case. A micro atx motherboard should be fine and you can find them for ~50-100 USD not sure what that is in £. Only other thing you'd need that you don't have listed is a hard drive.

Meh some build specs...

Meh some inspirational quote meh...

Yep as I said, I may have forgotten some items, but yeah I have a HDD with W10 installed since its a used pc that died recently, but the case sure can fit a mATX and ATX

Thanks for the help, Chad

Also, you said in your original post that it's a lga 1150, and in your comment that its a 1151. Make sure you check the processor (the model should be clearly printed on the front of the chip) to make sure you get a compatible motherboard. Skylake, Kaby Lake, and Coffee Lake are all technically LGA 1151 but aren't usually cross compatible except in some cases with bios updates, etc.

Alright, in that case you should be slightly safer. Just definitely look it up to be sure.

Seems fine, I'd definitely make sure that your i5 works with H81 and isn't one of the haswell refresh cpus that require a bios update first. I haven't researched 1150 a ton, but if they still sell new boards in your price range, go with it.

Just get a propper new motherboard, which should fit your full budget. CPU's usualy don't die that often. It's usually the mobo that dies way before the CPU?

Please read this more carefully, I have said that the processor may have died due to something other than lifespan, but yeah I'm just getting cheap mobo

When a motherboard dies in a normal way, the CPU will most likely be fine. Or you must have done something strange, which you haven't told us yet... Heck, I once even had a PCB get rekt after dropping a screw on the mobo, and the CPU was still fine. (the mobo too, as long as I had the onboard audio turned off)
