i5-4690k Help!

Go to solution Solved by 79wjd,

How many volts are you putting to the CPU? As long as it's <= 1.30v~ then it's fine. Based on your temps, i'm going to guess you're around 1.15v~, so...fine.

Hey i was wondering if anyone knows if my cpu is running good, my i5-4690k is running around 4.2 ghz idle and boosting up to 4.7 when gaming, my temps are 36 c idle and 65 c max. im using a evo 212 with artic mx-4 thermal spunk, iv run adia and prime95 both say the same thing. this is my first pc build iv done and i would be happy with any feed back i can get. i just dont want to fry my cpu5a248b9437edc_Screenshot(1).thumb.png.4691807c885fbe696c2181f86dece1b3.png

mine shows 1.2/1.3v i cant remember, the reason why im asking is because i was having really bad heat fluxuating my temps were going nuts it was hitting 90 at max load and moving up and down 10 degrees on idle yesterday, i was using stock evo 212 thermal paste that it came with but when i first applied artic mx-4 my temps were going nuts

Also i havent oc my cpu or gpu

You should manually overclock it and set the voltage yourself (the lowest voltage that is stable at the highest overclock with acceptable temps -- anything <= 80ºc under stress testing load is good).

thermaltake TR2 600w

Well, 600w is more than enough to overclock a 4690k and 1070 (even a good 450w psu would be enough, although far from ideal), however the TR2 is a bad excuse for a PSU and you should replace it regardless of whether or not you overclock (something >=500w from tier 1-3 from the PSU tier list in my signature would do).

What could i get it to without hitting 80c max load

Try and see, it comes down to the specific chip and motherboard. But anything <=80ºc is fine.
