How does this build look

PeterD1001

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/GFjf6X

Location - UK

Aim - High fps gaming at 1440p

Looks - not important at all, no rgb lighting etc, purely functional

the ram looks cheap, relatively for today’s prices, is there anything wrong with it or would there be a better option for a bit more money?

also the mobo - there are so many available I have no clue. I’d like to do some  overclocking but nothing extreme.

Thanks in advance!

get an 8600k or 8700k instead of the 7700k and the ram's out of stock.

Very, very hard to get one of these in europe... You'd need to wait at least a couple of months

Thanks Herman,

I don’t want to water cool it. Would a Noctua NH-D15 or Cryorig R1 do the job if only doing a mild overclock?

Also I guess those fan rgbs on the case can be switched off?

I’m also leaning towards the 7700 from a cost point too. Which mobo would you suggest based on the criteria?

thanks

I'd get the Asus Prime Z270-P. Its one of the cheapest Z270 boards but does everything you'd need it to do. Also I personally like the Asus UEFI and oc-utility a lot more

yes, but you may go over budget with them. a cryorig H5 should do for a mild oc. leave the RGB connectors unplugged if you don't wanna use them.

don't get the 7700k, zero upgrade path and the 8600k is only a few pound more and much better.

I don't know how much it should cost... But there are other, more expensive offers. ;)

Ok so I’m gonna go Coffee Lake.

If i can’t stretch to the 8700k I’ll go with the 8600k and oc it to 5ghz.

Are there any cheaper mobos that will enable me to get a decent overclock without too much trouble?

i'd start with the SLI plus, Extreme4 if you can afford it.

They are in stock at Overclockers UK so not that difficult to get hold of. They are of course overpriced at the minute.
