Does the use of a battery backup affect GPU performance (or any performance for that matter)?  I wouldn't think that it would but as soon as I installed one I noticed some dips in framerate, like from 60 to 30.  Not constant.  Like it will dip down and go back up.  I didnt know if the regulation of power by the backup would have anything to do with that

The backup is supposed to regulate the power flow, yes? So in the event of a power outage you have enough power to shut down everything properly, correct?

Logically, the backup shouldn't affect GPU performance.

If it's affecting performance the only logical reason for that would be Windows detecting it as a battery and switching power modes.  Nothing about how the power is supplied could cause that.

Well if your UPS were not of sufficient wattage and your computer was drawing more than the UPS was rated for

I think that would cause problems.

Yes, it could damage the UPS, or even cause the PC to outright crash, but I would not expect to see a performance drop on an otherwise fully functional system.  That would be very weird.
