So I do quite a bit of data manipulation for my work, but also have the need to store some pretty massive data sets. Basically what I am looking for is speed when loading data into programs, but also with the ability to move large amounts of data to "long term storage."  My solution for this was to purchase a 500 gb M.2 drive alongside a 7200 RPM 2TB HDD.

My question is probably pretty dumb, but how should I configure these so I can take full advantage of the speed of the M.2 while still allowing longer term storage on the disk?

Put your operating system, programs, and stuff you're working with at the moment on the SSD. Make the 2tb HDD your long term storage, archive, backups, and you could install some programs or games you don't use much on it.

Currently majoring in computer networking. That's about it yeah. Not much goes on in my life.
