Hi guys,

So I've got the bug to start upgrading my PC from my current i7 4790K @ 4.4GHz, I've done a list on PCPartpicker and just want to get your feedback on it (https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/hB4R7h).

What I'm wanting to do though is to build PC that performs nearly like the 8700K on an i5 budget, the 6800K delivers this so well and I'm really not that bothered about using an 'older' CPU to do this. When I built the system I'm using now I got the 4790K even though the 6700K was out due to my DDR3 RAM being only 2 months old, I couldn't care less about Coffee Lake.

Can you provide links to all the independent benchmarks on which i7-8700K performance was taken? In my opinion, until reliable third party benchmarks are released it's all speculative.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

I'm guessing the 8700K will only be a few percent better but overclocking the 6800K will make the gap shorter, like I said though I'm not bothered about using an 'older' CPU like seriously I couldn't care less.

Seriously I wouldn't be bothered about using the 6800K due to the fact it's always been a dream of mine to own an extreme edition PC.

You might consider going with a quad channel memory kit.

It will be interesting to see what the benchmarks say.

I'll think about this.
