Headphone Echo Remedy

I just got a pair of Sennheiser Game One headphones and so far they're great.  Only issue I have at the moment is there is an echo at certain times, or a reverberation.  What is the best way to solve this issue?  Is there a certain setting that can be adjusted?  Do I need a sound card so that I can better tweak settings?
