Windows 10 constant checking/repairing disk loop

I have had a HP Pavilion dv7 for over 2 years now and have had 0 issues starting it up (and I'm a heavy internet user) and recently (about 3 days ago) my action center told me, for maintenance, to restart to repair drive errors, so I restarted and it started showing me "scanning and repairing drive (c:): 0% complete" after several failed attempts to undo it, i couldn't and let it run for some hours.

I've done this twice now and whenever it reaches about 31% the computer restarts and prepares automatic repair, and I see a blue screen with troubleshoot and other options, so I clicked on "startup repair" (under troubleshoot) and for the past approximately 5 hours it's just been saying "checking disk for errors. This might take over an hour"

I don't know what to do, I'm extremely scared cus this is my most important laptop, and there has to be a workaround cus nothing was wrong, I just did what the action center told me to do, or should I just keep waiting?...please what should I do. Any help will be highly appreciated

Keep waiting... it could be that your HDD is starting to die, in which case I suggest that after it completes doing what it's doing getting a new HDD.

Um... Your HP had built in diagnostics. Press escape during boot and go to diagnostics and run it. Test your HDD. I want to say it's f8, but I could be wrong.

Which OS are you on?

Although my SATA drive is 700gb and it's has data of about 670gb stored on it, so should I just wait it out???

If it's boot looping, I highly doubt it'll fix itself. Run HP diags to test hardware, and probably try using OS boot media to attempt a startup repair as well.

What operating system are you using? W7, 8.1, or 10?

Get to the failed startup screen, then go to troubleshooting and refresh. Refresh the OS will keep your data. You'll just lose programs. If you cannot get it to show, it should be F11 or F8 at startup.

I'll try that and bring feedback, thanks a lot

If you have trouble getting there, boot up, and as soon as you see the windows in, power it off. Do it about 2 times, and it should go there automatically.
