Stripping SATA data cable

I am thinking of stripping a SATA data cable to make it easier to route in my case. What are the drawbacks of doing this. Has anyone done this. I know Silverstone has sort of pre-stripped SATA cables but I cant get them here.

Would not recommend stripping your SATA cable. Unless you can 100% confirm that you have not caused any internal damage to the wires inside, your cable could die in the middle of pc use, which could potentially bork your drive.

That's going to be fairly difficult, even with wire strippers. 

 

Chances are, you're going to damage it, and if it's really that tight in your case it's probably not going to be any easier (probably more difficult as you're going to have to be fairly delicate and careful)

Ok, so might be a bad idea. I did manage to strip it, just to see if it would work. Not sure I dare test it though. Too bad the Silverstone slim Cables are not available here in Sweden.

Ended up not using the stripped cable. Got some Akasa Proslim cables instead. Really soft, easy to route and cheaper than the Silverstone.
