Basically, put down headphones to do a chore, came back, and now the microphone only works when i put it in just the right position; similar to when some ear buds are damaged, aux cord damaged, etc.

Tried restarting headphones/PC, redownloading drivers, looking through settings but it appears to be a physical issue. But that makes no sense as i had done absolutely nothing to damage them, any ideas?

You've had them 18-24 months? This is a common issue that I ran into with the Logitech headphones. Around 18 months to 2 years after I got them the mic would start having issues not activating. Third time it happened I gave up and moved onto another brand.
