Hello,

Got a new build and for whatever reason when I enable XMP my PC fails to post. I've done it in the past with my Z97-G5 board but I can't figure out what's wrong.

Build:
MSI - X299 Gaming Pro Carbon AC
Intel - i9-7900X
Memory - Corsair Vengeance Red LED 32GB DDR4 3200MHz (2 x 16GB sticks).

I have tried 1 DIMM in C1 slot and swapped DIMM's but still the same issue. According to an installation notice, I am to put memory in slots A1 and C1. There is also a light to indicate that my CPU supports 4 channels memory.

Whenever the system tries to boot it hangs on the post code D5 and hangs. I have to clear the CMOS in order to get the board back up and running. Any help appreciated.

i am no expert in the ram department but XMP is a overclock setting for your ram. i think in your situation i would try to set your ram voltage and ram speed manually.

i think the safe voltage for daily use on ddr4 is 1.5V.

i would try to lower the ram speeds for now, you can try 2800/2933 you could even go as low as 2400 but you obviously didn't buy that kit to use lower ram speeds.

you could have faulty ram.

also make sure you have the newest bios installed.

Specs: Ryzen 9800X3D 5425MHz - ASUS TUF RTX 4080 super - G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo 64GB 6400MT/s CL26 -  Gigabyte X870 AORUS Elite Wifi7 ICE - Torrent Fractal Design white - EVGA 850W Supernova G2 80+ Gold - Noctua NH-U12A

  • 4 months later...

I have the same problem.
it seems to be a issue with a BIOS or MB.

My current build: 7820x, ASUS PRIME DELUX (can't go in XMP) without unable to boot BUT

My Older MSI TOMAHWK Arctic Could go in XMP mode and work fine? so it's really annoying.
