Hi guys,

I will be buying a used GPU (MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X). This will be the first time buying a PC part second hand. What should I look for when buying it, and what should I do to confirm it works properly. I live in the Netherlands so any refund options with Ebay etc. are not used. Also PayPal refund is not an option here.

I am looking forward to reading your replies!

Meet them somewhere where you can see it working.
Make sure it is the card you are purchasing, run GPUZ.

Check if they have the original box or have registered with MSI.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge, but is GPUZ a stresstest?

EDIT: nevermind I can't read apparently

Yes.

But can i give you an advice? At 99% the person who is selling you the gtx 1070/or 1080 for the matter is trying to pull a fast one at you ( i don't  know if those are the right words). Why? Because both those gpu are going to have big price cut in a months or so( 100$ for the 1070 and 150 for the 1080), so you  will be able to buy a brand new gtx 1070 for 350-380$

1080Ti has already come out and 1080 price cut has happened, but 1070 has had no such cut.

I know that site isn't  the  best, but on that we probably have to believe it, procing a 1070 at 450 and a 1080 at 500 would be just stupid from nvidia

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/products/10series/geforce-gtx-1070/#forceLocation=US on nvidia us the fe is at 399 now
