I have a packet that is way over its estimated delivery date. Not only that the tracking website says it has been out for delivery from my nearest USPS shipping office 1 week ago. The post office is about ~2 miles away from my house. I don't think it is in transit. What should I do?

Go in to the post office and ask if it's in their "dead letter file", they'll know what you're talking about. That's no guarantee though. One time I had an ex-landlord of mine send me my deposit to my new address and it never showed up. I went in to the post office, they said they didn't have it. I called around, no success. I moved AGAIN and then like six months later the check finally showed up at my new address. I have no clue how the post office works on the inside but I suspect it's entirely outside the scope of human understanding.
