Not sure what the cause is but my computer has developed a weird grinding or sort of vibration noise to it. At first, I thought it was the front intake fans so I bet some know ones of those: Corsair SP120 RFB with the fan control box plus I bought a Silverstone 1 to 8 fan hub. Not sure what the issue is unless it's HDD maybe? I have both my 1 TB Seagate HDD that I pulled from a 2-ish year old system I had (I think it was that old) and a WD Green 2 TB HDD I had bought at that time. The system itself is a little over 2 years old and I also have a Samsung 250 GB 840 EVO. Like I said it's started doing this off and on.

My PC Specs are:

CPU: FX 8320

CPU Cooler CM Hyper 212 EVO

Motherboard: Gigabyte 970A-DS3P

Memory: Patriot Viper 3 8 GBs DDR3 1866 Memory

Graphics Card: Sapphire R9 280 3G Dual-X (OC)

Sound Card: ASUS Phoebus

Power Supply: Corsair CX750M 750 Watt PSU

Storage: 250 GB Samsung 840 EVO (Boot drive) Seagate (I think it's Barracuda) 1 TB Hard Drive, WD Green 2 TB Hard Drive.

Case: NZXT Source 530 Full Tower ATX Case

Not sure what the issue is but it could be one of the Hard Drives failing as the sound is up front and it'll stop if I tap on the front of the case so not sure what's going wrong. One last thing, I do pretty much run my PC 24/7 unless bad weather or I'm out of the house for a very long period of time.

Typically if there's a vibration or grinding coming from a case it's a bad fan/something rubbing against the fan or it's a bad hard drive - where the platter has come off track and isn't working correctly. Your best bet is to unplug the fans one by one and isolating which fan it is.

Like I said, I just have replaced the fans but I'll check them if the sound continues. It only happens every once in a while meaning the sound isn't constant. I may need to get some of those cables that slow the fans down as they're only 3-pin fans and those run at pretty much full speed. One thing, and this could have nothing to do with it but, the 2 front fans sit right on top of each other. Don't know if that could have anything to do with it, could it? It's only made the sound twice since changing them out and all 3 are still turning and flashing like they should.

Having said all that, I will definitely double check everything as you said, Muffin.

Just to update everyone, just got back home from grocery shopping and I did leave my PC on and everything seems to be running fine so maybe it was just something getting hung in the fans like a spec of dust or something? Anyhow, I'll keep monitoring it, thanks for the suggestions guys! :)
