Custom PC case! Need your help.

Go to solution Solved by Misinthe,

- If you get a good enough motherboard, they have their own power and buttons.

- You need motherboard risers, you screw them into the wood and then you can use screws on them. apcnews2011corei5238x79_mainImage4.jpg4.jpg

- I/O shield not necessary.

- It would be best if you at least use two sided 3M tape or something for the PSU, if you leave it loose and you bump it or seomthing, it may come flying and dragging the whole thing with it, or yanking a connector from the motherboard. Better safe and screw it in.

I'm building my first PC in a few months and I decided not to go with a case. I simply can't find a goodlooking case that suits my preferences.

I'm actually planning on building my rig on a square, wooden stand. No side panels, just two floors, one to put my PSU and cables on and one to put my motherboard on.

I know that building a custom case can be tricky and even more when it's your first PC build, but I'm good at "working with my hands" (if I say so myself) and I think I'll get the job done.

My PC parts are also "custom-case friendly" so I don't think building the case will be much of a problem.

- Intel Pentium G4560

- GA-B250M-DS3H from Gigabyte

- Crucial Ballistix Sport 1x8GB

- M.2 WD SSD 250GB (Doesn't need any cables (less work for me to build the case))

- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 (Takes all the juice it needs from the PCIE port as far as I know (less work for me to build the case))

- Corsair CX450M

Since it's my first time, I would like to ask any experienced custom case builder to give me tips on how to build one myself.

Here are some of my questions and comments:

- I'll only use the USB ports provided by the motherboard itself so no need for "external" USB ports to put on the case.

- I have no clue on how to get a power button onto the case, so that's something I would like to get an answer on.

- How do I attach the motherboard to the wooden case so it stays there SAFE and do I need any rubber stands inbetween the case and motherboard to keep it on it's place?

- Do I need to attach some kind of IO shield to the case or is this unnecessary?

- Do I have to mount the powersupply to the case or is it OK to just leave it on there pulling itself down to the case with it's own mass?

Thanks in advance to anyone who spends their time to help me out!

Thanks! Looks pretty straight forward. How do I know if my motherboard has a power switch? Or does every motherboard have one?

Which motherboard is it? It should say in the specs.

Edit: if not, just buy something like this. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00UBWKCZK/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1487423655&sr=8-6&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=computer+power+switch&dpPl=1&dpID=418%2BfHVL1AL&ref=plSrch

Yeah I don't see any buttons on that one, so you'll need something like what I showed you, best of luck! Don't forget to show your finished build when you complete it!

Thanks for the help! I really appreciate it. I'll show you the build when I've gathered enough money to buy it. Been working hard at the local supermarket lately :P
