As for switches.. I have a switch tester and still can't make up my mind between red or brown (only keyboards I've ever used are a macbook, and a cheap walmart keyboard for my custom PC),M500 only comes in red and K70 comes in a variety.

But quality/opinion wise, from those who have experience with these products?  Which is better?

I only have experience with the K70, but I can clearly say it's beautiful the metal body is stunning and it looks and feels premium but I can't speak for the M500 but looking at the pictures I would go with the K70 for the better build quality and Corsair Utility Engine.

Ive heard bad reviews about the RGB software you have to install.  Did you have any problems yourself?

I haven't used the SS M500 but I do own the K70 LUX RGB w/ Red Switches and it is solid, coming from my CM Storm Quickfire TK w/ Blues its like night and day difference (not that the CM KB was bad was great for a $100 KB). The USB Pass thru is a nice touch, the volume slider/roller is great, I love how it doesn't have an edge around it making it easy to blow dirt out from under the keys.

The software used to be semi-ok but they have recently upgraded the software with new UI and it's a lot more user friendly with easy editing or the new advanced settings if you want to create profiles, but with the new software it's all good! I haven't had any problems myself.

I haven't had any issues with it, but it's not the easiest software to understand, But google and youtube can easily teach you to use it, it's literally like you watch a video and you'll be like "oh, duh how did I not see that".
