Hi I'm getting a new pc soon and spent some time on pcpartpicker and want your advise if this is a good build or not or if something should be replaced, it's a $1600ish build (cannot go over $1700) and I will be getting mass storage later on. The build is for OC and gaming mostly. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/j6LVf8

Do you have a reason to spend $200 on the motherboard? There are boards for $120 that OC just as well.

The Intel 600p is not really a good SSD, if you want an NVMe grab a MyDigitalSSD BPX, that one's much better.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

Computer having a hard time powering on? Troubleshoot it with this guide. (Currently looking for suggestions to update it into the context of <current year> and make it its own thread)

The mobo is the new z270 that supports the new optane and is for the latest 7th gen cpu's, it costs the same as the last gen ones so I'd rather get the new z270 with the 7th gen than the z170 that won't support most of the 7th gen stuff

And what is optane and why would you benefit from it?

Just get one of these

I'm not exactly sure but there's I think 4 extra pci lanes and every major pcpartpicker you tuber like linustechtips and Paul's hardware says if you don't have a skylake or a pc yet rather get the new z270 since it costs the same and I love the looks of the strix, but you mentioned something about the ssd?

Except it doesn't cost the same. Motherboards cost $20 more given the same quality as of today, and the CPU costs $20 more. You're getting a bit better overclocking and a couple features for it. Is it worth the difference? Probably, but that's no reason to spend $200 on a motherboard if you're not going to use its features.

Yea you have a good point, thanks. And you mentioned something about the ssd being bad, do you have any recommendations?

Will you use the computer for Photoshop, or any creative program, and if so which?

No it's mostly for boot times and load speeds for games and the OS but I will do java and delphi programming on it if that has an effect

For that a SATA drive will be just as fast, so I would give you one of these two:

750GB MX300

500GB SL308

Ah I feel you. I too suffer from Amazon not shipping here. Then try one of these (just grab the cheapest)

480GB PNY CS1311

480GB Adata SP550

500GB MX200

Hmm let me think

SanDisk Ultra II 480GB

One of those should be doable.

Thanks I'll look around and I really appreciate the help. I was considering just buying everything here but then I saw the prices here, a single 1070 (same one as in the build) costs R9599 which is roughly around $600 to $700 which is more than a 1080 from amazon

Don't forget to take a look at import charges so you don't get charged more than you think :)

And happy building!
