Thanks for doing that test. Maybe CS:GO uses the second core for most of the work. Well, I guess I won't worry about it too much since everyone said that these temps are fine.

well here's the results to the CS:GO/Chrome test

OHM is consistent with your readings (+-) and consistent with our control application HWMonitor.

I do trust HWMontitor and its readouts, bearing in mind the creator of HWmonitor, CPUID, also created our ever loved CPU-Z.

OHM I believe is pulling accurate readings, even though 79degrees is nothing to worry about anyways. so not to worry.

Don't forget to rate this response.

I recently built the system in my signature and it's finally working properly, but core #2 is significantly hotter than any of the others. Why would this happen, and is it a problem? The max temperatures are while gaming, the "current" values are while making this forum post.

Nothing too intense, I was just playing CS:GO and chrome and a few other small programs were in the background.

It still sounds high for a 6700k

ill open CS:GO and chrome and give you a comparison

what application you have open to view temperatures? to remove discrepancy

CSGO is actually CPU bound, so that would be a worst case scenario.

I would be worried if it went over 85.

Try using different software as well? HWMonitor is a nice one.

I haven't tried anything else. I'll consider that, but I've always used Open Hardware Monitor and I like it.
