M.2 Preffered over U.2

yup

Believing for except the stacking part, M.2 has an upper hand over U.2.

Which all motherboards have the max # of M.2 and is there a way I can add M.2 SSD on an Asus Z9 PE D8 WS motherboard? Somesort of adaptor in PCIe slots?

there are adapter cards that an M.2 drive can slot into then plug into a normal PCIe slot, as for the rest I don't know.

May not be able to boot from it, but *SHOULD* be able to use them as mass storage. (not %100 on that though)

I wouldn't bother using it as a mass storage drive though.

Just found a link about that specific mobo and NVME drives, didn't bother reading it but ill link it

When in doubt, re-format.
