Sound Stopped Working

Go to solution Solved by SpencerBoughtAnXbox,

I would replug all the connections just in case. Also reset youre sound to default settings i had this problem a few times and one of these should work

So today i decided to get on my PC and i noticed the sound wasn't working. There are no error messages on the motherboard and when i go into playback devices it says that my playback device is working as always. Yes i made sure my monitor sound was on as I am using a TV until i am able to afford the monitor I am planning on getting. The only thing noticeably different about my PC is the screen resolution. It was always 1920x1080p before which for some reason didn't fit my TV screen so everything has always been cut off by the edges of the screen a little bit. But when I booted up my PC today the resolution 1024x786p and is not cut off by the edge of my screen. My vizio TV has no options to change that, and i wouldn't want to change it except my mouse and games are laggy as if i'm getting 30 or less fps. Any ideas on why my sound may not be working? I already tried rebooting my PC multiple times.

do you have any sound effect/eqaulizers enabled?

I do not, and I am actually not sure which playback device i usually use. The only one showing up is the Digital Audio (S/PDIF). And when I run trouble shooting sound it says "The device does not appear to be plugged in.  Check the connection, plug in the device, then click next" I am positive i am doing nothing different and my earbuds that i always use are fully plugged in. It wont even play sound through my monitor speakers in which it always does.

Play any games recently and change the sound settings majorly in game? Some games will change Windows sound settings, and work for that game, but bork everything else. Second, check connections make sure everything is secure and if you have a speaker set plug it into your TV and see if it works. And Third, are you using HDMI or DVI/VGA + a audio cable?

I did play CSGO for the first time in a long time and just moved the master volume down 3/4 of the way but besides that I do not believe so. I have checked connects, but i do not have a speaker set. And i am using HDMI. I will try loading up CSGO and see if anything happens.

Make sure your CS:GO sound settings is set to speakers because if you have it on 5.1 channel speakers it will disable yours unless you have 5.1

Would my PC usually consider my Ear Phones as speakers, because if so it says that my speakers are not plugged in in playback devices. And yes my csgo is set to speakers

Ok i will try, but i do not get the option to reset my  Digital Audio (S/PDIF) to default as the box for the option is gray and unclickable

Thankyou! I switched my hdmi cable to a second slot, rebooted my pc, and unplugged my monitor. Somehow that magically made my TV go back to how it was in 1080p and made my sound start working again, strange...
