Hi I want to know how to overclock my CPU

thanks

Laptops usually cannot be overclocked without hacking the BIOS.  As laptops have limited space and every square centimeter is important, usually laptop designers put in a heatsink that is just big enough to be adequate, and they will not be able to handle additional heat from overclocking.

I really wouldn't.

Laptop's thermal capacity are usually designed around the spec of the processor, TJ Max, TDP, etc.. from the manufactures spec sheet.

It's ability to dissipate heat will be a huge issue, also the power limitations, BIOS will be limited and also the CPU won't be unlocked leaving only moderate potential for a slight OC.

It really isn't worth it. That CPU should be good anyway, QM is the quad core so presumably you are running 8 threads of i7 goodness.. :)

EDIT: Just read the Intel spec. sheet, it turbo's to 3.1GHz, so you should be fine. Why do you want more performance?

I have both the CPU and GPU of my laptop OC'd, and I wouldn't recommend OC'ing your CPU. The performance difference of a CPU OC'd vs non-OC'd is pretty negligible, so you should only do just for fun if you want to and you know what you're doing.

For gaming, a GPU overclock makes a decent improvement to performance, but you'd need a really high-end laptop with a discrete GPU and an overbuilt cooling system, because most laptops can't really handle the increased thermal output..

If you just want better overall system responsiveness (bootup speeds, etc) you can swap a slow HDD for an SSD, which is a very recommended upgrade..

i7 not perfectly stable at 4.4.. #firstworldproblems
