Worth the upgrade?

Sorry if this is the wrong sub.

I was thinking about upgrading my current setup, specifically my monitor, gpu, and storage.

1. Is it worth upgrading my GTX 770 to a GTX 1080?

2. I currently have a dual 60hz monitors, I play games competitively, should I upgrade to a 144hz monitor?

3. I have an old 128GB SSD + 2TB HDD setup, 90% storage used on both, should I get a 512GB SSD, or do you think it is more worth it to get a better mouse and/or keyboard? (currently on a budget $30 gigabyte mouse + cm storm quickfire XT keyboard)

I can get the 144hz monitor + 512GB SSD + GTX 1080 for $1250 CAD (approx. $960 USD), additionally I can get just the 144hz monitor + GTX 1080 for $1079 CAD (approx. $830 USD). Budget around $1200, another question, do you think I should wait a few months for potential price drops?

EDIT: Specs of my current rig:

i7-4770k @ 4.5Ghz

4GB GTX 770

16GB DDR3 RAM

750W PSU

ASUS Sabertooth Z87 Mobo

Definitely worth the upgrade but GTX 1070 seems to fit your bill better if all you do is 1080p 144Hz.

Of course if you want to go overkill then get the GTX1080, we can't tell you how to spend your money.

About the storage, depends on which you need more, seeing that you even almost max out the 2TB HDD, you seem to keep alot of files there, ask yourself what programs you need to load fast and whether all of them requires more than 128GB on your current SSD, if yes then get the 512GB SSD, if not you can skip it for now.

Hmm, yeah the 1070 does look a lot more appealing. $300 CAD cheaper. I may opt to get it instead, this way I can get 1070 + 144hz monitor + 512GB SSD + Mouse (zowie fk1) for around $1050 CAD ($200 cheaper than the 1080 + monitor + ssd option, and $150 under budget!).

Thanks for the suggestion.

That's the goal. My 770 did me good for 3 years, but it's time I return to the ultra setting glory days. Also with all that new FPS, it's about time i get a 144hz monitor.

Only get the 1070 if you have no plan on gaming on 1440p or 4k.

I know for sure single 1070 can do 1080p144Hz well but for 1440p, I don't think it can do 144Hz on ultra on every single game and once you get used to 144Hz there's no way you're going back to 60Hz.

Of course, there's the option to slap in another 1070 in the future.

Do you think the 1080's performance increase over the 1070 is worth the price?

All depends on resolution that you want to game in.

I can't see myself paying for a 1080 even if I have the budget to do it coz I only game on 2560x1080 ultrawide, GTX1080 is just redundant for me.

1060 will do the job just fine but the lack of SLI support kills it for me so 1070 is my choice.

Just ask yourself, if you plan on getting a 1440p 144Hz then GTX1080 is a solid choice.

If it's just 1080p 144Hz then save that cash and get 1070.

1080 is superior to 1070 by 20-30%, decide whether the price increase is worth it for your case.
