USB-C Hub (not mac)

I'm debating getting a keyboard and screen to use for my laptop. Though I'v just ran into a problem which is I only have 2 functioning usb 3 ports. (PC came with 1 that dosen't work, havent gotten around to look into this problem and i have mouse and headset that use USB) But the PC comes with a USB-C connector, would then buying a type-c hub be of any use? I've heard problems with peripherals not working properly while running on a USB hub.
