How do I turn it on?!

Go to solution Solved by m0k,

did you correctly connect the on/off switch cables from the case onto the motherboard?

To stop with the dumb "is it powered" questions, just check if the pwr LED on the board is lit green. This LED is a safety thing motherboards should have so you don't shock yourself.

I Dont see any green led.Ill check if the cables are connected properly.

Off chance that this board doesn't have pwr LED. Can you describe in detail what exactly happens when you press the power button?

Abslolutely nothing happens, I connected the motherboard 24 pin and the 8 oin for the cpu among with everyhting else, is there something we missed to connect?

A year ago when i built mine, to power it on I used a screw driver and made a bridge between 2 pins.

Some common pc builder mistakes even pros make sometimes. Check the Front panel connectors on the board. The two pins you shorted is a debugger's little trick to power on a pc without the front panel. Those pins you short are supposed to be connected to the front panel so the power button makes the connection when you press the button. If you didn't connect it properly, which I've seen even pros do wrong, then the symptoms would be the same as what you've described so far. Refer to your mobo manual for which pins are to be connected to what.

Blue screens eh? Did you try setting it to Wumbo?

I just checked those some minutes ago and realized my friend connected them in the wrong place, however I reconnected them properly and still nothing. I connected them in the JFP1 pins with the cables saying "HDD LED, POWER SW, and RESET SW" facing downwards. I think thats how they go, i have mi manual in hand and it seems that way.

How do I test it?

Well, take a paper clip and short out the green and black wire. If it doesn't have colors just short the 4th pin with the 5th pin on the side with the little clip on it, so say it's like this:

clip          (This clip fastens to your mobo)

oooxxooooo  (these o's are the pins and the X's you short out)

oooooooooo

If the fan on the PSU spins, it's good. Else, the PSU is dead

Should I disconnect everything first?
