I am having trouble between choosing 144hz or 1440p, so I want to go and buy a TN and an IPS monitor to test them when I build my computer. I imagine that I would be able to hook up both to my GPU at the same time, and have the same image/video/games project on both monitors. Or would I have to do 1 at a time? What would be the best way to go about doing this?

You will get eyestrain, and the gameplay experience will be reduced because of the difference in the panels. It's kind of like trying to play a piano, but you are using one hand to play the piano while you are using your other hand to play a different piano. Even though you are doing the same thing on each monitor, it will throw you off.

I am not planning on keeping them both. I am just doing it to compare them to see which one I prefer

It will work fine, and you can duplicate the image to both monitors, but you will only be able to set them to the highest common settings. You can't have one running at 60 Hz and the other running at 144 Hz, or one at 1080p and the other at 1440p, as long as you have them set to duplicate the same image. And it doesn't cause any eyestrain issues, at least for me.

I'll probably be best off just running one at a time then. They have separate features that I need to consider to compare
