After much pondering I got the D-Link AC3200 Ultra Tri-Band Wi-Fi Router (DIR-890L/R) for my new provider. Just upgraded the firmware through the router and literally all my settings are gone. I can't even set a password for the wifi. In security option dropbox I can only select none and my two 5ghz channels won't even show up on the Web browser anymore. I'll post some screenshots tomorrow if needed.

Any help with this would be beyond epicly appreciated.

Since you said you lost pretty much all settings on your router you could try resetting it and see if that fixes your issue after you try restarting it...

Yeah a few times. I haven't done a reset to factory yet. Before I updated the firmware the 2.4ghz channel wouldn't work at all either. Now after just moving the router next to my desk (was tired of taking it off the wall every 30 sec) everything works absolutely fine but I still can't change the settings on anything. My roommate is a bit more tech savvy and he thinks it might just be bad hardware. Other than changing the name and password of the wifi I haven't changed any settings.

Yeah that is a possibility. Was it working before the flash? Cause if it was I'm thinking it could have messed up when flashing to the newer firmware.

You could always contact D-Link's support and see if they can do anything for you?

:o a tri-band router, very nice!

Ty, the ltt channel has helped me get back up to date quite a bit. There's a million (more like 60 but still...) wifi channels in my immediate area so I figured something with smart connect and a boat load of strong antennas would be much better.

I'll try that today. That would be a hard reset with the tiny reset button in the back correct? I've unplugged it, waited about 30 sec and then plugged it back in a few times and the fourth time it worked miraculously. Still don't have my menu's yet though. I'll try the reset when I get home.

Thanks everyone for the help so far btw.

  • 2 weeks later...

Tried everything mentioned here and even had my wife's cousin who's a pro IT guy take a look. We think the code got corrupted on the firmware update so I'm returning the router.

Thanks again everyone for the help.
