Been playing Final Fantasy XIV at 4k the last few days and during two incidents where I've switched from Borderline Windows to Full Screen and back, I've gotten a System Error Exception (dxgkrnl.sys) that promptly crashes my whole computer. While it doesn't always happen, this is now the second time and I'd like to know the cause. Of further note, whenever I do attempt Full Screen, the picture display has noticeable motion blur issues-- almost like a bit light washes over the screen. So I've also wondered if either my GPU or monitor (which is a TV) simply can't handle 4k.

Specs

CPU: Skylake i5-6600k @ 3.50GHz
RAM 16.0 GM
GPU: GTX 980ti

Looking into the game files myself just now, I noticed this "SYSTEM_GRAPHICS_DISPLAY_MODE    3840 x 2160 (32 bit) (60Hz)". I use an 64 bit OS. Could that be part of the issue by chance? In any case, would very much appreciate any help.

Make sure, that your are using the most recent driver for your GPU and all Updates for Windows first.

Have you tried to completely reinstall yout grafics driver?

Use something like DDU in its recommended settings.

Also does something like this only happen in this game on that resolution? If so maybe its just a bug in the game that is causing DirectX to fail.

The 32bit behind your resolution as something to do with the bit-depth of the colors send to the display, not your architecture.

I seem to have found the source. Dropping the Real-time Reflection setting corrected it. So I'm thinking it was a game specific issue at 4k resolution. I'll have to poke at it with another game to be sure. Also, thanks for that link! I've updated my drivers but I'll double check other areas just in case I missed an update.
