Hello I am planning on upgrading my pc to a 6700k and a gtx 1080 mainly for gaming, but I am wondering on any recommendation for motherboard can some one recommend something,  for case I currently have a noctis 450  so size would not be a problem.

Any of the Asus ROG boards will be a good recommendation mate, I can highly vouch the Asus Maximus Hero VIII and the Asus Formula VIII that I just upgraded to from the Hero (mainly due to looks and RGB powah) :)

How to choose your skylake mobo:

  1. Filter Z170
  2. Filter ATX
  3. Ditch any mobo you find ugly.
  4. Ditch all the ones with less than 10 power phases.
  5. Pick any of the remaining.

Could you explain more about the power phases?

To sum it up, count those and make sure there are 10 or more.

Are you sure that you understand anything about VRM cirquitry?

I know that wasn't exactly the best way to describe it, but I just wanted to give OP a quick and easy thing to look for.

If you'd rather give him an in depth explanation, be my guest. I just don't think that'll be useful for him.

No problem, it wasnt to attack you or something.

i was just currious.

Because the Z170 pro gaming as showed in the picture is realy missleading.

For OP, what is the budget for a motherboard?

I've been looking at the gigabyte gaming 5, gaming 6, and the gaming 7 (which is a white/ red/ black so your choice). They seem pretty decent. Can I vouche for them? Not really cause i'm honestly still trying to find a mobo... But just some food for thought.
