Windows 10 new mobo

So I am upgrading my mobo and have upgraded my windows 7 OEM to windows 10 on my current PC... I know when I boot using my current HDD and my new motherboard that I may have to haggle with microsoft or just buy a new OEM key for windows 10... My question is when I plug my current HDD into my new mobo and select the HDD as the boot drive will everything boot ok (I know windows may deactivate but I can solve that)???? Or do I have to do a fresh install in which case could someone guide me through it?

Windows should boot fine, but the activation window will popup.

What do I do when the activation window pops up? Will I be ok to just buy a new Windows 10 OEM key form somewhere such as Kinguin? Thanks for the reply btw :)

Well, you could either try windows support to get it reactivated, or you can buy a key.

Personally I would not buy a key from a place such as Kinguin, as they are 'grey markets' Search up 'Kinguin Grey Market' for more info on that.

Look around for a windows key, when you find a site, check reviews on google and see what people think of it.

You could find a key on ebay, but make sure that its a reputable seller, and that you use PayPal so you have buyer protection.

Thank you I will look into that! Could I also just buy a brand new windows 10 RETAIL key so I'm safe?

Yup, microsoft sell them directly off their website, and you can find them in most computer stores as well.

Cheers! I'm reading alot about Grey Markets and as far as I can see everything is technically LEGAL so I would theoretically be able to buy off there correct? Obviously the morals involved are a bit wishy washy so the likelihood is I wont buy one but id like to consider all my options :)

Yeah, its perfectly legal, but risky. For example, if you buy the key and its fake/used, there's not much in terms of support to get that fixed.

Ok well thanks for the info! I know my options now! So I should just be able to plug my current HDD into my new motherboard and all should boot up as I left it except windows will be deactivated so I just need a key?

Yup. Best case scenario is that Windows may not even need the key!
