AT&T Galaxy S5 Root

Now for coding and for more fun stuff on a phone you need to jailbreak or root. I would like to root this. Before you tell me to find a guide I am sick of looking for one and I can root my phone easy. The problem here is that I have AT&T so I tried to unlock it since Towelroot is not working. I got a email from ATT saying to put a non att sim card and enter a code to unlock. My questions are that will that unlock my phone or is my phone unlocked now? if it is unlocked then that brings me to my next question. To downgrade to root. I am booting through Odin and I have Odin and the firmware on my PC. But I either get (all is in red)

 

UDC START

SYS REV CHECK FAIL : Refer 3 > Binary 1

SECURE CHECK : system                                              

 

or the 3 gets replaced by a 4 and I have no clue I am kind of done with this. Please help as soon as possible
