Hello, and thank you for reading, currently I'm having very frustrating issues with my new Alienware 17 R3, and I'd rather not have to send it in for maintenance if there's probably no issue with the system itself. Sorry if this article is long, but I've never invested so much into a computer before and I'm very stressed about it working perfectly. When I first received the computer, I tried hooking up an external corsair k65 keyboard, and my mouse, and the keyboard caused a humming sound by the USB ports which i presumed to be feedback. The humming grew louder when the lights on the keyboard went brighter and brighter and completely went away when I turned them off. The lighting also went away when I plugged earbuds into the audio port. That was a problem with the ports when I first bought the computer, and I'm not sure if that's normal or not for laptops or just something that happens, at that time I did not receive any power surge notifications from windows. Recently I received a corsair void headset for Christmas and I would charge it with my laptop, occasionally it would act as if it wasn't charging enough or receiving enough power from the laptop as it still notified me it was on low battery. Now when I try to charge the headset in any of the ports, I get a notification saying that the USB port has power surged, and the port then stops working after I unplug the device, and will no longer work until I reboot the computer. When i plug the headset specifically into the left two USB ports, the first port emits a repetitive humming like clicking sound, and the second port emits a fairly loud consistent humming and I receive a power surge notification with both ports. My concerns are 1) Does the power surge notification mean I caused permanent damage to my USB ports or motherboard etc 2) does this mean my new headset is broken and causing the power surge? to the best of my knowledge a USB port will only supply as much power as it can and no more, so I don't know what would cause the power surge... 3) Is the fault at my laptop and USB hub? To add on, every other device I own seems to work just fine, external hard drives, flash drives, mice, etc... So could a headset be the culprit? I don't understand how trying to charge it would cause the power supplier to surge, and should I send my laptop in for the warranty to have them look at it and potentially fix something if the surge does cause damage. Last, a random side note, I have a wall adapter USB charging outlet with a light on it, and the light stays on when it charges a device, but if I plugged the headset into it, the light turns off and the device doesn't charge at al. Any response would be greatly appreciated!!

My main concern is that I need my laptop for work and it would be very inconvenient to not have it for a week or two, so I'm trying to avoid sending it in and see if anyone has had similar problems etc...I want to hope the headset is just causing the surges but I'm probably not that lucky because idk why the USB hub/ computer would hum then etc...
