I have an evga gtx 980 SC, 16gb ddr3 @1866mhz, asus z97-A usb 3.1, adata sx900 ssd, seagate barracuda 1tb, i7 4790k, and evga 750w b2 bronze PSU. All clocks are stock, and all is air cooled.

Previously ( https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/581636-black-screen-flashing-during-normal-use-of-pc/#comment-7594786 ), i had issues with the screen flashing black occasionally on my PC. I have tried everything i can think of:
-Checking & switching cables

-Replacing both the PSU and GPU w/ RMA

-slight over-volt on the card to prevent it dipping below stable clock speed (didnt know this was possible, but the LTT forum gave me the advice.)

-changing the PCIE slot on the motherboard that the card is plugged into.

-Switching to firefox, becuase the flashing seemed to ONLY happen when chrome was open.

Nothing worked. BUT ive finally figured it out. The flashing only happens when Facebook is open in a window. The flashes directly follow both  the opening of the page, and scrolling through the timeline.

That narrows it down, but i still have one question: HOW. How does this happen? Only Facebook, doesn't matter what browser or where its open, it causes the monitor its on to blink black.

If theres anything that can be done about this, or even an explanation, it would be appreciated. Thanks so much.
