I was looking at the Neewer NW-1500 and wondered Would I need a phantom Power to use it?

My motherboard is the GA-X99-UD3 and it features the realtek ALC1150.

I wouldn't mind investing in a USB converter since it doesn't cost much but if I needn't buy one I'd rather not.

Thanks.

You might depends on the voltage of the i/o on th at board, the mic itself requires 5v of power.

Those are the specs of the chip, I'm not sure which voltage it needs.

Have no clue how to interpret this, but this is what was listed " Supports 3.3V digital core power, 1.5V or 3.3V digital I/O power for HD Audio link, and 5.0V analog power ." I cant find what the mobo outputs on each audio i/o though. From what I read on the product reviews, most folks are complaining about no audio when connected directly to the pc and the other set of folks are using an audio interface.

OK, well i have 1\3 chance to make it work :P

Gigabyte does not specify the specs of the IO on the motherboard so I'm a bit in the dark on this one.

You need an audio interface with phantom power. It is a condenser mic afterall...

Actually, It works even with stuff like the Sabrent USB converter.

The min. volatage is 3v, although it will sound a bit distorted.

New computers and chipsets mostly feature 5v on-board, it's just that Gigabyte chose not to specify the exact voltage that the IO uses.
