Adding Yourself To a Group Text

I've been in group texts on IOS (an iPhone culprit I know don't hate please) and people have been able to add themselves back in after they've left or been removed. I've tried to find information on this but haven't been able to find anything. Does anyone know how to add yourself back to a group iMessage?
