So sometimes I like to run my laptop with a monitor and have my laptop closed, but I am faced with the issue that I have to open the laptop every time I want to turn the laptop on. Is there anyway I can power on my laptop without having to open my laptop? Kinda confusing... Thanks

Wake on LAN packets? idk. Physically there is no other way unless you solder a power button of some sort onto the motherboard of the laptop.

Is it a Dell, HP, or Lenovo business/"workstation" notebook that can connect to an external dock?  If so, those docks usually have a power button so you can turn it on without opening.  The docks aren't that expensive anymore for most of them -- $20-$40 on eBay.

I remember one of my old computers used to be able to start just by pressing some keys on the keyboard.  But haven't seen that on a laptop.
