PSU for NAS

I have searched through the power supplies that are available and found those:

  • 430 Watt Seasonic S12II Bronze Non-Modular (49,66€)
  • 400 Watt be quiet! Straight Power 10 Non-Modular 80+ Gold (67,94€)

The important factors in my decision were:

  • around 440-450 watts
  • 6 sata connections for my nas drives
  • efficiency rating
  • noise level

so now I face a tough decision: I have heard many good things about seasonic power supplies but it only has a bronze rating. The be quiet on the other hand has a gold rating but is more expensive and I do not know the brand very well.

My system will run 24/7 and will in the future power 6 drives, what are your thoughts?

I wouldn't worry too much about the efficiency rating in your decision. You'll be consuming around 100w at most 99.99% of the time, which would lead to the following yearly electricity costs (roughly -- substitute .13 for your local electrify cost):

100w/.90 * .13 * 365 * 24 / 1000 = $127

100w/.85 * .13 * 365 * 24 / 1000 = $134

There are also molex to sata and sata to sata extensions, so I wouldn't worry too much about the number of connectors either.

also the fan noise won't be much different with either, so again, it's not something I would worry about.

in terms of quality both are pretty similar (and good). So it should come down to how you personally feel about it and which has a better warranty/support in your area.
