download the latest bios firmware (usually the very first on the list).

 

looks like that link made it simple and included a tutorial on how to flash the bios

As you can see in the compatibility notes it says "Some AMD 970 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Vishera CPUs."

Do I need to download a BIOS update if so where?

The first BIOS version for that particular motherboard dates to February 2015, and Vishera CPUs were released in 2012. So this is an absolute non-issue.

 

The potential problem would be if you got an older motherboard with an original BIOS version written before these CPUs were available. Then it might require a BIOS update to work. But this is a newer board.
