hey guys so i just got a new ssd samsung 840 evo and installed windows 7 no prob and i noticed on the program that comes with it. its telling me about some ahci mode is not on and it cant detect some sata interface?  now i looked in my bios and i saw what its talking about i think but when i enable it my ssd crashes so im just wondering what might be going on?

 

pc specs are 

 

MB - Gigabyte G1 Sniper X58 first gen

CPU - intel i7 960

Ram - Corsair Vengence 6 Gigs 

PS - Corsair hx1000

GPU - His 6870

The problem here is that you installed windows on IDE mode (happens all the time, I did the same thing with my first SSD :P)

You need to change the windows registry to AHCI and then after that change the BIOS settings to AHCI.

thnx i just ended up doing a fresh install after turning the mode thnx for the info though
