Issue with HDD or MB?

Well I just learned something new. Apparently how the volumes are graphically located means something and windows can only extend a partition to the right. Since your ç: volume is already to the right it cannot be extended.

The only option I'm aware of beyond starting over would be to format the unallocated space as a new piston and use it as a second drive.

Go to your start menu, right click on computer or my computer and select manage. In the left hand pane will be a set of options you're looking for disc management.

What does the drive report as in there?

Gotcha, probably just use the search feature and type in disc management actually. Or open a folder and click on the my computer like on the left from there to get to the manager option.

Alright, if you right click on your 740gb partition you should have the option to expand our extend. Can't remember the exact verbiage. But that will let you add the unallocated space to your existing partition without reformatting.

well I'm not confident enough to completely restart so I've just allocated the rest of the space for another drive.  Thank you for helping :)
