WD Black or Blue?

Go to solution Solved by Mighty_Miro_WD,
Hi @RGT!

WD Black is a performance oriented drive, which will suit better if you plan to run apps from the HDD too, but based on what you've described as a purpose to use the drive for I would suggest to go with WD Blue. It is meant for everyday usage and it's most commonly used for regular computing, light gaming and combined with SSD. Like you said, the Blue and the Green will emerge in the WD Blue line, which is why you can easily go with it for mass secondary storage if you want to go with a 2TB+ unit.

Hope this helps and feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Cheers! :)

Hi,

I have read that the BLACK drives are very noisy. Some just sound when you are using the drive, some sounds always. lucky i guess..

but, is it worth it?.

Example, i have a lot of games and photos saved, and music. I always play music from the HDD and i always save photos and stuff. Will be good idea to buy one of the blacks drives or not?

based on what you said, noise is what's important, and since you are considering a black drive for music, you are ready to spend a lot more than usual.

I'd recommend any 512GB SSD as it's SILENT and faster than any HDD around.

For the Best builds and Price lists here is a world where many points of the price have been predefined already for your convenience!

The Xeon E3 1231 V3 IS BETTER Than the Core i5 4690K and a Significantly better value for the non-overclockers or value shoppers.

they perform nearly the same. only wd blacks have longer warranties. you might see wd blacks perform a bit better if you transfer files a lot though

have you considered getting an ssd?

i have a 850 EVO for my operating system and a WD GREEN 2TB for my stuff but not it if full i need a new hard drive.

that is why i was thinking in WD Black. I just transfer files to the hard drives like twice a day, music, photos, videos, movies that i download, anything....

so, blue, green or black?

( i don't say green in the beginning because WD is transferring their green line into the blue line.)
