Windows suddenly not detecting USB

Go to solution Solved by MatazaNZ,

Update: reinstalled Windows, completely fixed the issue. So it was indeed driver issues. No idea what caused them, as it was working the night before, when I shut it down. Moments like this are when I'm thankful my boot drive is separate from my storage drive, so I lose nothing but programs and settings

So sometime in between shutting down my PC last night and booting it this morning, Windows has decided that it doesn't want anything to do with my USB ports. My keyboard and mouse both work in the UEFI, so it's not a motherboard issue. Something in Windows is not detecting anything USB related. I've tried using a PS/2 keyboard, but that doesn't work either for some reason. Is there anything I can do to try to fix this?

I'd be curious to know if a fresh install took care of the issue. Though if it is a windows problem, it obviously should. What version of windows did you have\are you installing?

I had Windows 10,upgraded from 8.1. A reinstall did indeed fix the issue, so I suspect some kind of driver issues. And they must ha e been bad driver issues, as PS/2 didn't even work
