All-in-one liquid cooling

Go to solution Solved by jaffacakes,

Yeah, that's why I wanted an ATX. I'll look around, thanks!

Thinking I might get the Cooler master seidon instead, thought it'd be alright even though its cheaper

The H55 is better than the Seidon from what I've heard, but it's always better than the stock cooler and since you're not OCing it you'll be fine.

Thinking of getting a new CPU, motherboard and case soon so I thought I'd look into new coolers, my main goal is to have a clean looking case so well cable managed etc. with that I wanted a top facing fan like the Noctua one but then a Corsair H60 is a similar price.

Is it worth getting an all-in-one?

I'm thinking of getting an MSI Z97 PC Mate, either an i5-4590 or a i5-4690K and then a NZXT H440

CPU: FX-6300 GPU: Sapphire R9 380X MOBO: Gigabyte 970A-DS3P RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB PSU: XFX XTR 550W CASE: Zalman Z11 Plus SSD: Samsung 840 Evo

What's your budget?

The Z97 board isn't worth it if you're getting the 4590.

AIO coolers are worth it from certain price ranges and above, some lower-end ones perform worse than air coolers.

Really depends on how much you want to spend.

I kind of wanted a full sized ATX board for aesthetic purposes but if I get the 4590 I may get an mATX for like £30/40

As for the AIO, can you recommend any? I just like the way they look and thought they'd provide a solid cooling solution.

For the cooler or all of it?

You can get an ATX H97 board for cheap (http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-motherboard-h97pcmate)

If you are going to overclock look at some AIOs with 240mm rads, while if you're not overclocking (4590 w/ h97) you'll be fine with a 140mm rad, since you won't reach high temps.

Don't really know about what models are good or not (I know that the Corsair h100(i) and the NZXT Kraken x61 are good), but Google is your friend. ;)

Similar price to the Z97 though, would I be getting any extras getting the H97 over the Z97?

They're both a little out of my price range. Was looking more around £50 range, the H55 is only £45, not sure if that's any good but I'll look around

The only extra "feature" you get with the Z97 over teh H97 is overclocking. They are basically the same board, one made for locked CPUs, the other for unlocked CPUs.

The H60 would be better, given the extra features (should cost around £5-£10 more). You could change the fan to a Noctua NF-F12 for better performance.

Aesthetics-wise and non-overclocking-wise an AIO cooler is better, overclocking-wise you're proabably better off with an air cooler at that price point.

Let me know what you choose, cheers.

Do you recommend finding a cheaper matx board and just going with that if I get the 4590?

What's the extra features? I just assumed it was the max RPM differences?

I'll probably see what AIO I can get and get the one that suits me best.

Didn't want to start a new thread, but I have a question.

I own Antec H2O 1250 AIO CPU cooler.

Problem is, that because of the lack of space in my case, I did need to bend a bit tubes at CPU head, so it could fit in case. Now after working a while it looks like it leaks a bit at connections where CPU head is. Nothing much -probabbly just a drop, but still... Sometimes the pump sounds, like there is air in the loop somewhere.

So the question is - is it possible to refill liquid in loop somehow? Maybe even change tubes to make them a bit longer ( and refill loops, so I could get out AIR in it) ?

Get the cheapest ATX H97 board that you can find (mATX in an ATX tower looks weird imo) and go with the 4590 if you're not overclocking.

It should have a better CPU block and fan (meaning it dissipates heath easier without having the fan run at higher speeds). The CPU block on the H55 is basically a tweaked/refreshed version of the H50's one, whilst the one on the H60 has a different architecture.

Think you'd be better off starting a new thread - pretty different question

Yeah, I didn't want to spend too much so thought I'd save a bit on that

You could make another thread asking which to get between the H55 and Seidon.

Maybe, I'll leave it a little bit and do my own research into them both, if I can't decide I'll ask the forums!
