I am building a new system (i7 5820k + GTX 980) and I don't know if I should build a custom water cooling loop or use a Corsair H100i GTX. I am aware that the custom solution will be more expensive but I've never watercooled before so I'm a bit scared. If you think the custom loop would be better better could you please suggest the parts? I am only interested in cooling the CPU for now, but I could add the GPU to the loop later, if I want, right? Thanks for the help.

the AIO is FAR easier.

a watercooling kit from say, EK would have all the parts you'd need for a CPU loop, just throw in a GPU block and probably another radiator and you should be good to go.

as a sort of in-between there are EK and Swiftech's "expandable AIOS" which are perfect for what you describe if you want something relatively simple for the moment to cool your CPU, but can add the GPU and another rad to later.
