Good MOBO temp?

Go to solution Solved by Decon,

What's the highest a mobo temp should go? I'm not looking for recommend temperatures, just a temperature that won't hurt it. Mine just hit 70 C so I'm a bit worried :c

Thanks :)

IOH on Supermicro Dual 1366 can exceed 80C, which will not cuase a thermal shutdown as the chips can handle it.  You can always strap a fan to the heatsink to cool it off if you're getting thermal shutdowns because of it.

I´d say it depends, with the beast mainboard you´ve got I don´t think it is unusual to see a bit higher temps. Then it also depends on other factors. Is the board in general that warm? How good is your overall airfrlow? How many probes on the board show these temps?

When I do benchmarking for a while, or editing even with my custom watercooling I get around 38° Celsius on the board in certain areas and I´ve got a full cover block on the board. With you dual CPU those temps are going to be higher in load scenarios.
