Apple SSD SM1024F Blazing Fast Speed

Hi all,

 

I have a mid-2014 15 inch Retina Macbook Pro. It has a 1TB SSD "Apple SSD SM1024F". I just ran a speed test using BlackMagic and am getting 1 gig/sec read and 950 MB/sec write. I don't know much about the architecture of this SSD - I take it that it is PCIe to achieve such speeds?

 

What PC desktop SSD's would be capable of currently reaching these speeds or greater? I ask since I am going to be building a PC (not Mac) and want to maintain this SSD speed as it's blazing fast.

My SSD. 950 PRO 512GB. 

 

I get 2.5GB/s read and 1.6GB/s write. Yes, gigabytes.

I believe it's PCI-E.

If it isn't, it's M.2

 

It would still be PCIe, just in a M.2 form factor.

I wish. It's a totally unnecessary SSD. I didn't need it at all. I just have it for bragging rights.

Do you notice a speed difference for daily tasks? Reminds me of the Intel 750 NVME

Data centers. A lot of server boards lack M.2 slots.
