As the title states, I've got this wretched buzzing sound coming from my headset.

At first, I had a pre-built HP laptop and a HyperX Cloud II headset. The buzzing noise/static was driving me insane and so I ordered a replacement HyperX Cloud II. When I plugged it in, I noticed the replacement had the same static. I figured something was wrong with the mobo's soundcard, but apparently the HyperX Cloud II's usb dongle has its own sound system going on so then, I assumed the fault lied with that specific product and I returned it.

Since then, I've built a new custom PC and bought a new headset:

The static/buzzing sound still haunts me.

Additional information:

. Both headsets use 7.1 surround sound technology

. Both motherboards have built in sound cards

. The static is considerably louder when I am listening to something. When I'm not listening to anything it's quieter but still noticeable

Please advise!

Try uninstalling your sound drivers, then installing the specific sound drivers off of ASUS's site.  This changed my Supreme FX board from Static at 50% Windows to 0 static at 100% volume on everything.  (for my HyperX Cloud no-less.)

Would that mean uninstalling "Realtek Digital Output (Realtek High Definition Audio)" and "Realtek Digital Output(Optical) (Realtek High Definition Audio) then replacing them with the two audio drivers on the right side of the screen?

- Fake 7.1, means nothing.

- Motherboard with onboard audio, but you use USB so you don't even use onboard audio anyway.

- Have you tried other ports? How about plugging the 3.5mm plug from the Cloud 2 into the motherboard's green 3.5mm onboard audio port? Still static?

I returned the cloud 2 and the g930 is usb only. I did hear that the 7.1 is software driven but that doesn't really matter to me. The headset was on sale and looked comfortable.

All headset/headphone 7.1 is software driven, it's fake and not worth it IMO. Real 7.1 relies on speakers surrounding you, not sitting directly on your ears.

That said, so long as the G930 works for you(and is comfortable to you), that's what matters in the end. I would try various ports though and also look at reinstalling the motherboard's USB2.0/3.0 drivers.

How would I go about fixing this then?

Um you can get a ups for your computer, but its probably more USB static then this. I had written first that it was probably USB static, but then didn't feel like seeing if your second set of headphones was USB...

Check out this forum post for help, Windows 10 and 8 retroactively uninstall your chosen drivers in favor for their own.  Check out his own posting below in the forum, where the solution is (not first post.) It should help you figure out how to work, It's what I used.  However, one difference is that I use Analog for the sound...  it might change the result.

The G930 headset is USB. How do I get rid of USB static?

I tried 13 ports (front and back). How do I know which drivers are usb drivers? https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/X99A/HelpDesk_Download/

Sorry for asking newbie questions but I'm a newbie.

Thank you for replying. I will be trying this solution.

Edit: If it is EMI, how should I go about improving the situation?
