Wireless headphones

My grandmother bought some wireless headphones. I dont know the model, but she claims she payed about $300 for them. After leaving them doing nothing for a few days, she went back to use them but it was horribly staticy. She says this has happened several times when she has bought wireless headphones before. Any ideas why? Hoping I could fix it for her, for christmas.

She likes to plug it into a TV if that helps, Ile have to get info on the model numbers of each product.

Two simple suggestions which came to mind:

1. Make sure all of the connections are secure and the audio jack/s are all the way in the socket. I had things where the connectors appear to have been inserted all the way but actually haven't - resulting in a poor connection and bad audio.

2. Give the headphones a go on another device such as a smartphone or computer if possible. This should help to narrow down whether the TV or the headphones are faulty.
