Migrating to an SSD

Go to solution Solved by Mc_Joker,

Make a clean install on the SSD.

Change in the Bios the boot drive. Boot it from the SSD.

Then when done installing and updating just copy the maps u want to keep to your SSD or external HHD.

Then format the HHD and put it all back.

I've done the same.

I have a 120GB Kingston SSD I want to put my os on. I have a copy of Paragon Migrate, but the last time I tried it, it didn't work. I think it was because I had to deselect some folders under the user folder as the hard drive has 800GB used on it. Once I changed the boot drive to the SSD it booted even slower, and once it finally did boot it was missing everything I deselected (I thought they would just stay on the hard drive?). I switched back to booting to the hard drive and it worked fine (although it seems slower than normal). What am I doing wrong?

almost impossible to just pull your os from a drive with other stuff on it, either take the other stuff off and put it on another drive so you can shrink it down to below 120 gb or do a clean install (my suggestion)

CPU: i5 6600k @ 4.6 ghz  Motherboard: Asus z170-a  Cooling: Corsair h80i GT GPU: EVGA GTX 970  Ram: G.Skill 2x8 gb ddr4 2400  PSU: EVGA G2 Supernova 550w  Case: Corsair 200r Storage: 250GB 850 EVO + 2x wd 1 tb drives
